And within the luminous body of her work there is little doubt that Love Deluxe is the masterpiece! There are indispensable tracks from an indispensable artist of incomparable beauty and soulfulness. “Kiss of Life”, features some nice use of the piano, bass work, and funky beats. "Bullet Proof Soul" has great trumpet work, piano parts, the synths add to the ambience, making for an entrancing experience. Sade shows great charm when she sings "You kept on thinking, you were the only one. Too busy thinking, love is a gun", accentuating the last three words effectively. Paul S. Denman anchors every song with some of the most understated yet innovative bass playing ever recorded. His deep, sliding, funky bass playing makes "Feel No Pain" a virtual masterpiece of minimalism, and he gets downright buttery as he hangs in the background on "I Couldn't Love You More" and "Cherish The Day".
