Да
нет, это очень похожие вещи. Есть пара «но»: строго ограниченное время
записи и жёсткие рамки в плане того, как музыка и слова к ней должны
раскрывать фильм.

К чему вы стремились, записывая «New Divide»?

Мы
хотели получить на выходе эпическую — со сложным сюжетом — песню. Когда
мы перебирали свой демо-материал, когда решали, с какой стороны
подступиться к песне, которая станет саундтрэком фильма «Трансформеры»,
у нас было много сложного материала, который является отголосками
скорее наших внутренних миров, нас как группы. «Трансформеры» — совсем
не тот фильм, для которого стоит использовать наши душевные переживания.

Отражает ли «New Divide» новое направление музыки Linkin Park, которое мы услышим на следующем вашем албоме?
Новый
альбом по большому счёту не имеет почти ничего общего с «New Divide»,
но звучит он превосходно. У нас сейчас есть 40 новых песен-идей. Мы
уверены, что новый альбом должен отличаться от трёх предыдущих, мы
уделяем большое внимание экспериментам, свежим идеям. На нашем
следующем альбоме может быть больше моего рэпа, я вкладываю всю свою
Fort Minor’овскую энергию в пластинку, над которой мы сейчас карпеем.
Никогда не угадаешь, какие песни попадут в окончательный плейлист, но
надеюсь, что будет больше рэпа и крутых битов.

Можешь ли

продюсера и ещё целой горы специфических обстоятельств. Альбом «Minutes
To Midnight» был попыткой вырваться из звучания первых двух альбомов и
наполнить пластинку новыми звуками. На наш новый альбом вернётся идея
поиска нового звука, который не будет похож на предыдущие.

как вы работаете в студии? Вы придерживаетесь какого-то общего плана,
по которому работает вся группа? Или же всё меняется от альбома к
альбому?

Мы стараемся придумывать и записывать песни
одновременно. Мы записываем каждую новую ноту, держим свою музыку
организованно, чтобы ни одна хорошая идея не была забыта. Некоторым из
нас кажется правильным проиграть часть песни на каждом инструменте в
студии — на гитарах, клавишных и так далее. Мы пишем какую-то часть
песни на каком-нибудь музыкальном инструменте и двигаемся дальше:
структурируем песню по мере её развития, усложняем композицию,
исполнение, стихи и звуки до тех пор, пока у всех нас не сложится
положительное впечатление о песне.

Коснулись ли новинки студийных примочек звучания группы? Как цифровые технологии помогли Linkin Park реализовать себя?

Для
нас нет ничего такого необычного, когда дело касается студийного
оборудования. Иногда всего по минимуму, иногда нам жизненно важно
задействовать абсолютно всё оборудование. Но, честно признаться, мы
дети цифрового века. Мы когда-то записывались на плёнку, но наш стиль
больше выигрывает от технологий, от возможности быстрого доступа к
своим наработкам на компьютере, так быстрее получается объединить всё

является лучшей. Мы поняли, что решить эту проблему можно одним путём:
встречаться каждую неделю вместе, чтобы слушать и голосовать за
музыкальные идеи друг друга. К счатью, у всех нас хорошее чувство
музыки, мы загодя видим, во что может превратиться маловзрачный отрывок
музыки.

Много ли экспериментируете в студии? Всегда ли вы ищете новые подходы к вокалу, его стилю?

Да,
сейчас мы очень много экспериментируем. Не хочу распространяться по
этому поводу, но мы отлично проводим время, создавая новые звуки.

Вы
сейчас популярны настолько, что ни в какие рамки не укладывается. Что
думаешь насчёт успеха группы? Чувствуешь ли себя звездой?

Если
оглянуться назад, да, это очень странно. Мы долгое время работали,
записывая альбом, создавая своё имя и внезапно мы становимся настолько
популярными, что даже и мечтать о таком не могли. Я думаю, что мы
вместе с остальными ребятами хорошо справились с бременем славы,
несмотря ни на что.

Можешь ли выбрать одну-две песни, которые были наиболее сложными для вас? Какие песни дались наиболее тяжело?
Таких
много. Каждая песня — это наши кровь, пот и слёзы. Последняя из таких —
«New Divide». Это песня для большого летнего фильма, у нас были сжатые
сроки. Откровенно говоря, создатели «Трансформеров» в самом начале о
нас даже и не думали, было много известных групп, с которыми они
планировали записать песню для фильма. Мы были под огромным давлением,
в первую очередь по времени, чтобы показать Майклу Бэю и его команде,
что наша песня будет самой лучшей. Мы дали им послушать и получили
положительный ответ.

Что думаешь о вашем туре Project Revolution? Достигли вы этим грандиозным событием того, чего хотели?
Да,
этот тур цветёт и пахнет, мы с нетерпением ждём его продолжения — как
только запишем альбом. Ещё было здорово вынести этот тур за пределы
США, мы отыграли серию концертов в Европе, публика приняла очень тепло.
Огромное количество людей работает над этим туром, мы очень благодарны
им.

Мы
всегда чем-нибудь да заняты. У Честера в сентябре выходит сольный
альбом, я в августе проведу выставку своих картин «Glorious Excess:
DIES», мы делаем игры для iPhone, мы скоро поедем в тур, мы записываем

Группа была основана в 1996 году двумя
одноклассниками Майком Шинодой и Брэдом Делсоном и в начале называлась Xero. После они
сменили название на hybrid theory. Офицально Linkin Park как группа стали
выступать только в 1999 году. Вскоре в ее составе были Майк, Брэд, Джо, Роб,
Феникс и Марк, а сам коллектив стал называться Xero. Несмотря на ограниченные
ресурсы, ребята начали запись нескольких песен в спальне Шиноды, которая и

чартов в 32 странах, стал трижды платиновым, и успешно лидировал весь 2007

Linkin Park — американская рок-группа из Лос-Анджелеса, играющая нью-метал. Одни из наиболее популярных представителей
альтернативной сцены. Существуя с 1999
года, группа продала более 50 миллионов копий альбомов и дважды удостоилась
награды Грэмми. Группа обрела успех благодаря дебютному альбому под
названием Hybrid Theory, проданный тиражом в 10 миллионов
